The Rupes Bigfoot Duetto LHR 12E is a specialist system for sanding and polishing on painted surfaces.

The Rupes Duetto is equally effective working with soft or interface backing pads teamed with micro-abrasives during the defect correction step or with foam polishing pads and compounds during the polishing stage. Extensive research on random orbital dynamics and exhaustive testing resulted in the choice of a 12mm orbit for duetto. This orbit length greatly improves the surface rectification abilities of the latest generation of microabrasive discs. The combination of duetto and microabrasives is especially effective when smoothing orange peel or significant defects.

The finish generated by this combination is both homogeneous and predictable, with no deep sanding marks.

Dual Function: Sanding and Polishing

The LHR 12E duetto and its 12 mm orbit can be used with fine grit abrasives to speed up deep correction operations. The tool can then use foams and compounds to refine the abrasive scratches and restore a lustrous finish.

Ergonomically Perfect

With its nonslip rubber inserts in the front cover, the Rupes LHR 12E duetto is perfect for all polishing operations in difficult to reach zones. The user can work in comfort to produce the best results possible.

Antispinning Shroud

The dual function antispinning shroud is designed to protect the operator against the moving parts and act as a clutch for the backing pad, preventing further stress on the foam polishing pad when it is not in direct contact with the surface.

The attention to detail is not limited to just the innovative and attractive design. The modern lines and exceptional technical quality are combined with a number of details that are the result of meticulous research aimed at achieving maximum operator comfort. The non-slip rubber inserts are numerous and have many functions. In particular, the insert on the machine body is used to support the polisher when placed on a surface.

The sun appeared today enough to get to play with my new Rupes Duetto for the first time. Before now I’ve been more than happy with my Flex rotary and DAS-6 pro DA that only came out for spreading nice thin coats of glaze or wax.
The Duetto tempted me as it seemed an ideal way to try Rupes as the sanding side of it would be very usefull.
Now I wish I’d tried the Bigfoot range before! Initial impression is just how smooth it runs, speed 1 to spread the polish then straight up to 6. It really is a one handed tool, the other hand just helps guide it. I tried the 2000g sanding discs on one half of a Toyota bonnet that averaged around 100 microns and in one slow set of horizontal and vertical passes I got a perfect matt finish that only took it down by 2 microns. A quick set with the Rupes yellow pad and Scholl S3 then restored the gloss without a measurable loss of paint. Another great thing with it is that it really helps in teaching you keeping the pad flat on the panel as you loose some of the smoothness as soon as the pad tilts a little. The system is so nicely balanced that you can really feel the difference using the MF pads without and then with the dedicated MF backing plate, you can use the Rupes MF pads without the different plate but you loose the lovely smooth feel. The smooth feel and no pressure also lets you feel exactly what’s happening between the pad and the panel. You can literally feel how the pad is cutting with the sanding discs, or with polish you know straight away when the pad is starting to run dry. Roll on the next dry day so I can play some more.
